This set of different pieces converges around one location and one event during NATO bombing of Serbia in 1999. Location is Former Federal Secretariat for Internal Affaires in Belgrade. In my art pieces I try to use this event and the location itself only as sticky notes on the whiteboard of discussion to raise the questions around culture of remote cruel punishment, ugly face of crime and to the larger extent the motives behind it, ...business. First set of art pieces I have made at the end of 2013. and the video beginning of 2014. Second short video clip I’ve created from almost the same content ten years later, 2024 when that real-estate project was completed evolving into a business / residential skyscraper. At the same time the news came that Jared Kushner will be acquiring the property at the place of former Yugoslav Army headquarters bombed by NATO, to be developed into a luxury hotel and also a museum dedicated to the victims of the bombing. I could’ve ended all of this with the quote from the movie Godfather” It’s not personal; it's business”. However, as we see about the events around the world these days, I ended it as the first one.
